ON THE LOSS OF HER HUSBAND

WHAT I TREAT

Grief shows up in many ways.

It isn’t only the tears. It’s the way loss reshapes everything — your body, your focus, your relationships, your sense of who you are. However it shows up, it deserves real support, not platitudes.

However it shows up, and however long you’ve carried it — you don’t have to carry it alone, or like this.

Therapy room armchairs
01.

Waves that ambush you

Fine one moment, undone the next — in the supermarket, in the car, at 3am.

02.

The fog

Concentration, memory and decisions all feel underwater. Grief takes enormous energy, and it shows.

03.

Physical exhaustion

Heavy limbs, broken sleep, no reserves. Grief lives in the body as much as the heart.

04.

Numbness

Feeling nothing when you ‘should’ feel everything — the system protecting you from too much at once.

05.

Anger

At the unfairness, at people who don’t understand — sometimes even at the person or the life you lost.

06.

Guilt and the what-ifs

Replaying conversations, decisions, last moments — carrying responsibility that was never yours.

07.

Anxiety since the loss

A world that suddenly feels unsafe, bracing for the next phone call, the next goodbye.

08.

Loneliness in company

Surrounded by people who care, and unreachable — because no one quite understands what was lost.

09.

Loss of identity

When who you were was woven into who or what is gone.

10.

Living losses

Divorce, estrangement, infertility, a diagnosis, the life you expected — grief without a funeral, and just as real.

WHY TIME ALONE HASN’T HEALED IT

Grief that’s stuck isn’t grief that’s failing.

They say time heals. But you’ve given it time, and some mornings it’s as heavy as the first week. That isn’t a flaw in you.

THE PREFRONTAL CORTEX

Where you know they’re gone.

Rational understanding — the level that has read all the books and knows the loss is real. It can’t switch off the ache and alarm below.

THE LIMBIC SYSTEM

Where loss actually registers.

The seat of attachment and alarm. When guilt, shock or the way it happened gets tangled into a loss, it keeps firing as though the rupture is still happening — which is where my work goes, gently.

You know they’re gone. Part of you is still searching, still braced, still bargaining. That’s the gap time alone can’t bridge.

WHAT A SESSION INVOLVES

Three simple steps.

01.

START WHERE YOU ARE

We begin gently, at your pace — with the loss and the weight exactly as they are. You never have to recount the hardest details. You’re in control, always.

02.

FREE WHAT’S STUCK

A simple, gentle process, a little like a visualisation, that releases the guilt, the shock and the alarm tangled into your loss, so grief can move instead of loop. You stay fully conscious and safe throughout.

03.

CONFIRM THE SHIFT

Before you leave, we confirm the change has settled — so you don’t just hope it feels different, you feel that it does. Lighter isn’t the same as forgetting.

My personal mission is to get my client at least some relief, from their very first session.

REAL STORIES, REAL RESULTS

What it feels like on the other side.

I came to Sarah completely shattered after the stillbirth of my daughter. Through her work, I was able to finally process what happened without being overwhelmed by it. I still miss my baby every day, but I am no longer drowning in it. I can breathe again.
Losing my father completely destabilised me. Sarah helped me access the grief I had been avoiding for months. I was able to reconnect with memories of him without being overwhelmed. I feel grounded, steady, and no longer trapped in that frozen state of loss.

WHY WORK WITH ME

The difference you’ll actually feel.

01.

NO TIMELINES, EVER

You’ll never be told where you should be by now, or that it’s time to move on. We work at the pace of your nervous system — the only timeline that’s real.

02.

THE LOVE STAYS

Grief is the shape love takes after loss. My work is with what’s trapping you inside it: the guilt, the shock, the alarm. The love and the memories stay exactly where they belong.

03.

GENTLE BY DESIGN

You’ll never be asked to recount or relive the worst moments. The approach frees what’s stuck without reopening the wound to heal it.

04.

NO WAITLIST, NO REFERRAL

Private practice means no GP referral and no Medicare waitlist. Begin when you’re ready.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

My approach isn’t for everyone — and I’d rather be honest about that.

This is for you if…

  • The loss is still shaping your daily life — months or years on, you can’t find your way back
  • You’re functioning on the outside and quietly falling apart in private
  • Guilt, anger or the way it happened has you stuck — looping instead of grieving
  • You’re carrying a living loss the people around you don’t recognise as grief

It may not be the fit if…

  • You’re in acute crisis and need immediate clinical or psychiatric support right now
  • The loss is only days old — right now you need your people, ritual and rest. I’ll be here when you’re ready
  • You’re looking for ongoing, open-ended talk therapy rather than structured support
  • You’re not quite ready — and with grief, that timing deserves deep respect

Grief deserves gentleness, never a hard sell. The free consult is exactly where we work out, unhurried, whether this is right for you — and if specialist or medical support would serve you better, I’ll say so honestly.

AND IF I’M NOT THE RIGHT HELP?

My promise.

I’ll get you to whoever is.

Sometimes grief is being held in place by something underneath it — trauma from how it happened, a mood disorder, or something else that needs a different kind of care.

If that becomes apparent while we’re working together, I won’t leave you to work it out alone. Your investment goes toward identifying what’s actually going on and coaching you toward the right approach — and I’ll act as your champion through the system, so you get a shortcut instead of years of trial and error.

I can’t stand the thought of needless suffering. You’ll be delivered safely to the right help, either way.

In 98% of the cases I take on, I am the right help. The other 2% leave with a clear path to the person who is.

Sarah Buckle

LET’S BE HONEST

You don’t need to keep carrying this alone.

The presence you can’t quite give the people still here. The sleep, the health, the joy you refuse yourself because it feels like betrayal. The life on hold, waiting for a ‘better’ that time alone isn’t delivering. None of that has to be the shape of your life.

So let’s let grief move the way it’s meant to. Gently. Together.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Your questions, answered.

01.Will you try to make me move on, or leave them behind?

Never — and this matters most of all. Grief is the shape love takes after loss, and the love is not the problem. We work only with what’s trapping you inside the grief, so you can carry your person, or your loss, with love instead of agony.

02.Isn’t grief just something time heals?

Time matters, but time alone only heals grief that’s free to move. When guilt, shock or the way it happened gets tangled into a loss, grief loops instead of flowing. This work frees what’s stuck, so time can finally do its part.

03.Do I have to talk through the worst moments?

No. Because we work with the subconscious rather than re-analysing the past, you never have to recount the hardest details. You share only what you choose to, and you remain safe and in control at every moment.

04.My loss isn’t a death. Does this still apply?

Completely. Divorce, estrangement, infertility, a diagnosis, the future you’d planned — grief doesn’t require a funeral to be real. Living losses are often the loneliest to carry, because the world doesn’t recognise them. I do.
