WHAT I TREAT

Estrangement shows up in many ways.

Whether you made the decision or it was made for you, the loss is real, the guilt is loud, and the world tends to assume you should just reconcile. This deserves real support.

Whoever drew the line — you don’t have to carry this alone, or like this.

Therapy room armchairs
01.

Grief for people who are still alive

Mourning someone you could call, and can’t.

02.

Guilt and second-guessing

Wondering if you did the right thing, over and over.

03.

The holidays and milestones

Birthdays, Christmas, weddings — the days it hits hardest.

04.

Shame about the situation

Dreading the question ‘how’s your mum?’

05.

Anger that has nowhere to go

At what was done, and at having to be the one who chose.

06.

Anxiety about contact

A message, a knock, a mutual friend — and the whole system floods.

07.

Loneliness

Feeling unrooted, without a place you belong to.

08.

Old wounds resurfacing

The estrangement pulling up everything that led to it.

09.

Pressure to reconcile

Well-meaning people who don’t understand why you can’t just fix it.

10.

Not knowing who you are without them

An identity built around a family you no longer have.

WHY TIME HASN’T MADE IT EASIER

Estrangement isn’t one loss. It’s a loss that keeps happening.

Every milestone reopens it. Every question from a stranger. Every version of the story you tell yourself at 2am about whether you were right.

THE PREFRONTAL CORTEX

Where the decision lives.

The reasons, the history, the boundary you drew — the level logic works at. It knows why. It can’t quiet the part of you that still wants a mother, a sister, a father.

THE LIMBIC SYSTEM

Where the loss is held.

The seat of attachment. It doesn’t care whose fault it was — it registers the absence of people it was wired to need, and it keeps sounding the alarm — which is where my work goes, gently.

You know why you had to. Part of you is still a child waiting for them to come back. That’s the gap reasons can’t bridge.

WHAT A SESSION INVOLVES

Three simple steps.

01.

START WHERE YOU ARE

We begin gently, at your pace — with the loss, the guilt and the anger exactly as they are. You never have to recount the family history.

02.

RESOLVE WHAT’S UNRESOLVED

A simple, gentle process, a little like a visualisation, that releases the guilt and grief tangled into the estrangement, and closes the older wounds underneath it. You stay fully conscious throughout.

03.

BUILD YOUR OWN GROUND

Then we build forward — your identity, your chosen people, a sense of belonging that doesn’t depend on them. Most clients feel a noticeable shift by the end of their very first session.

My personal mission is to get my client at least some relief, from their very first session.

REAL STORIES, REAL RESULTS

What it feels like on the other side.

Sarah’s approach is wildly unconventional — and effective! Therapists I’ve seen previously have wanted me to rehash my past until I’m blue in the face. Literally a life-changing experience.
Sarah is a person who can connect to anyone instantly. She gets you and is passionate to get you to where you want to be. She has done it for herself and she has the tools to get you there. You won’t regret it.

WHY WORK WITH ME

The difference you’ll actually feel.

01.

NO PRESSURE TO RECONCILE

I won’t push you toward contact or away from it. That’s yours. My job is helping you feel steady enough to choose.

02.

YOU’LL BE BELIEVED

No one estranges lightly. I understand how much it costs to get here, and you won’t have to justify it to me.

03.

NO RELIVING REQUIRED

You’ll never be asked to recount the history. The approach resolves the grief without reopening every wound.

04.

NO WAITLIST, NO REFERRAL

Private practice means no GP referral and no Medicare waitlist. Begin when you’re ready.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

My approach isn’t for everyone — and I’d rather be honest about that.

This is for you if…

  • The estrangement is settled on paper and still running your days
  • Guilt, grief or anger have you stuck — looping instead of moving
  • You’re tired of explaining, defending or hiding it
  • You want to feel rooted in a life of your own making

It may not be the fit if…

  • You have complex needs that call for specialist or medical care
  • You’re in acute crisis and need immediate clinical or psychiatric care
  • You’re looking for ongoing, open-ended talk therapy rather than resolution
  • You’re not quite ready — and that timing deserves respect

This deserves gentleness, never a hard sell. The free consult is exactly where we work out, unhurried, whether this is right for you — and if specialist or medical support would serve you better, I’ll say so honestly.

AND IF I’M NOT THE RIGHT HELP?

My promise.

I’ll get you to whoever is.

Sometimes estrangement sits on something older — childhood trauma, a mood disorder, or a level of need that calls for specialist care.

If that becomes apparent while we’re working together, I won’t leave you to work it out alone. Your investment goes toward identifying what’s actually going on and coaching you toward the right approach — and I’ll act as your champion through the system, so you get a shortcut instead of years of trial and error.

I can’t stand the thought of needless suffering. You’ll be delivered safely to the right help, either way.

In 98% of the cases I take on, I am the right help. The other 2% leave with a clear path to the person who is.

DID YOU KNOW?

I can also help you resolve…

  • Grief and loss
  • Childhood trauma
  • Guilt and shame
  • Abandonment issues
  • Anxiety
  • Narcissistic abuse recovery
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Loss of identity
  • Anger and resentment
  • Boundaries
  • Sadness and low mood
  • Anxious attachment

LET’S BE HONEST

You don’t need to keep grieving in secret.

The holidays you dread. The question you brace for. The version of you that’s still trying to earn a family that couldn’t give what you needed. None of that has to be the shape of your life.

So let’s find your own ground. Gently. Together.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Your questions, answered.

01.Will you try to get me to reconcile?

No. Whether contact is ever right again is yours to decide, and it might be never. My work is with the grief and guilt, so you can make that decision from steadiness instead of pain.

02.Do I have to talk through everything?

No. You share only what you choose to. Because we work with the subconscious rather than re-analysing the past, you never have to recount the hardest details.

03.Does this apply if they cut me off?

Completely. Being cut off carries its own grief and its own confusion. The way through is the same: resolve what’s stuck, and build a life that doesn’t wait on their return.

04.Will I be hypnotised, or lose control?

No. You remain fully conscious and in control at every moment. The change work is gentle, closer to a guided visualisation than anything you’ve seen on stage.
