WHAT I TREAT

It shows up in many ways.

Caring for a parent, a partner, a child with additional needs — often while holding down work, a home and everyone else. It’s love. It’s also a load no nervous system was built to carry alone, indefinitely.

However long you’ve been carrying it — you don’t have to carry it like this.

Sarah Buckle
01.

Exhaustion rest doesn’t touch

Tired in a way a night’s sleep, when you get one, doesn’t fix.

02.

Guilt for wanting a break

Needing time, and feeling like a bad daughter, wife or mother for needing it.

03.

Resentment — and shame about it

Loving them, resenting the role, and hating yourself for the resentment.

04.

Anticipatory grief

Mourning someone who is still here, a little more each day.

05.

Snapping, then hating yourself

A short fuse with the person you’re caring for, and the guilt that follows.

06.

Anxiety about what’s coming

Bracing for the next decline, the next call, the next decision.

07.

Isolation

Friends who’ve drifted, invitations that stopped, a life that shrank to the size of the role.

08.

Your own health, ignored

Appointments you cancel, symptoms you dismiss, because there isn’t time for you.

09.

Losing yourself in the role

Not remembering who you are outside of what you do for them.

10.

The dread of it ending

Wanting relief, and being ashamed of what relief would mean.

WHY ‘YOU JUST NEED TO REST’ HASN’T HELPED

A nervous system on duty can’t stand down on command.

Everyone says to look after yourself. The advice is kind. It ignores that your body has been on alert for months or years, and doesn’t know how to switch off even when someone else takes a shift.

THE PREFRONTAL CORTEX

Where the good advice lands.

Planning, boundaries, the respite you keep meaning to book — the level most support works at. It knows you need a break. It can’t make your body believe it’s safe to take one.

THE LIMBIC SYSTEM

Where the load is actually held.

A threat response that’s been switched on so long it’s become your baseline, holding the guilt, the grief and the vigilance. That’s exactly where my work goes, gently.

Respite gives you an afternoon. It can’t reset a nervous system that doesn’t believe it’s allowed to stop. That’s the gap rest alone can’t bridge.

WHAT A SESSION INVOLVES

Three simple steps.

01.

START WHERE YOU ARE

We begin gently, at your pace — the load, the guilt and the grief exactly as they are. You share only what you choose to.

02.

RELEASE WHAT YOU’RE HOLDING

A simple, gentle process, a little like a visualisation, that lets your nervous system stand down, releasing the guilt, the resentment and the constant vigilance. You stay fully conscious throughout.

03.

REBUILD YOU ALONGSIDE THE ROLE

Then we build forward — boundaries that hold, a self that exists outside the caring, and a way to keep going that doesn’t cost you everything. Most clients feel a noticeable shift by the end of their very first session.

My personal mission is to get my client at least some relief, from their very first session.

REAL STORIES, REAL RESULTS

What it feels like on the other side.

Working with Sarah has been the best decision I have ever made. Her professionalism, warmth and skill are second to none. I highly recommend Sarah’s services.
Sarah is a person who can connect to anyone instantly. She gets you and is passionate to get you to where you want to be. She has done it for herself and she has the tools to get you there. You won’t regret it.

WHY WORK WITH ME

The difference you’ll actually feel.

01.

LIVED EXPERIENCE

I don’t just understand carrying too much professionally. I know what it is to hold a life together for other people, and what it takes to keep yourself in the picture.

02.

NO GUILT-TRIPS, NO PLATITUDES

You won’t be told to practise self-care. We resolve what makes rest feel impossible, so caring for yourself stops being one more task.

03.

RESOLUTION, NOT VENTING

Talking helps for an hour. This work releases what you’re carrying at the source, so the relief holds.

04.

NO WAITLIST, NO REFERRAL

Private practice means no GP referral and no Medicare waitlist. Begin when you’re ready.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

My approach isn’t for everyone — and I’d rather be honest about that.

This is for you if…

  • You’re the one everyone relies on, and there’s nothing left in the tank
  • You’ve tried respite and self-care, and you still can’t switch off
  • Guilt, resentment or grief have you stuck — and you can’t say so to anyone
  • You want to keep caring for them, without disappearing

It may not be the fit if…

  • You need practical respite or crisis support right now — Carer Gateway (1800 422 737) can help with that; this work is for what the caring is doing to you
  • You’re in acute crisis and need immediate clinical or psychiatric care
  • You’re looking for ongoing, open-ended talk therapy rather than resolution
  • You’re not quite ready — and that timing deserves respect

Caring deserves gentleness, never a hard sell. The free consult is exactly where we work out, unhurried, whether this is right for you — and if practical or specialist support would serve you better, I’ll say so honestly.

AND IF I’M NOT THE RIGHT HELP?

My promise.

I’ll get you to whoever is.

Sometimes caregiving stress is being held in place by something underneath it — unresolved grief, a mood disorder, or something that needs medical care alongside, or instead of, this work.

If that becomes apparent while we’re working together, I won’t leave you to work it out alone. Your investment goes toward identifying what’s actually going on and coaching you toward the right approach — and I’ll act as your champion through the system, so you get a shortcut instead of years of trial and error.

I can’t stand the thought of needless suffering. You’ll be delivered safely to the right help, either way.

In 98% of the cases I take on, I am the right help. The other 2% leave with a clear path to the person who is.

DID YOU KNOW?

I can also help you resolve…

  • Burnout and overwhelm
  • Guilt and shame
  • Grief and anticipatory grief
  • Anxiety
  • Anger and resentment
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Loss of identity
  • Sadness and low mood
  • Sleeplessness
  • Boundaries and people-pleasing
  • Family conflict and estrangement
  • Making hard decisions

LET’S BE HONEST

You don’t need to keep disappearing to keep them afloat.

The appointments you cancel for yourself. The friends you’ve stopped calling. The version of you that exists only in the gaps between their needs. None of that has to be the shape of your life.

So let’s put you back in the picture. Gently. Together.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Your questions, answered.

01.I can’t step away from the caring. Can this still help?

Yes. Nothing here requires you to do less. It changes what the load costs you, so you can keep going without losing yourself in it.

02.Isn’t it selfish to focus on myself when they need me?

It’s the opposite. A carer running on empty gives less, snaps more and burns out sooner. Looking after the person doing the caring is part of the caring.

03.I feel guilty for resenting them. Is that normal?

Completely. Resentment and love live side by side in almost every caring relationship. The resentment isn’t a verdict on you — it’s a signal, and it’s exactly what this work resolves.

04.Will I be hypnotised, or lose control?

No. You remain fully conscious and in control at every moment. The change work is gentle, closer to a guided visualisation than anything you’ve seen on stage.
